Print from the early 20th century. Frame early to mid 20th century.
Antique tonal brown and white (subtle sepia colour) print from an engraving. Signed by the artist. Mounted and framed (vintage/antique). Ready to hang.
The print looks like a photogravure type of engraving which gives a beautiful tonal quality compared to other types of engraving processes.

A outdoor winter's scene with a dog and a group of mischievous children hiding behind a fence and holding snowballs. In the distance is another dog and an old man walking in the snow. Integral off-white border with printing plate impression lines. Printed signature on the artwork 'Arthur J. Elsley 1901'. Pencil-written signature on the border 'A J Elsley'. Printed title and makers' names on the borders: 'Here he Comes!', 'Painted by Arthur J. Elsley', 'Owned and Copyrighted by Bibby's Quarterly', and 'McCorquodale & Co Limited'.

Frame Details:
Slate brown board overlay mount. Moulded wooden frame edges in an ebony colour (very dark brown, almost black) with textured leaf pattern to front-inner edges. Glass to front. Board back on frame with tabbed and taped edges. Metal tab for hanging. Some of the fittings are newer than the frame itself.

Size:
External size, including frame, approx 15 9/10 x 11 1/10 inches, 40.5cm x 28.3cm.
Size of visible print including borders and names (ie: the mount aperture size) approx 10 3/4 x 8 inches, 27.4cm x 20.3cm.

Condition Notes:
Artwork area excellent. A few very small marks on the white borders. The frame edges have slight wear and a light patina in the mouldings and texture. The frame corners have a few shallow chips. Some tiny marks on the glass. Mount and rear fittings excellent. A wonderful picture!
