Antique miniature tonal black and white print from an engraving. Mounted and framed (vintage). Ready to hang.
Landscape with castle ruins to background, people and a dog on a path, and birds flying in the sky. Beautiful picture! Integral off-white border with title to bottom border 'Corfe Castle, Dorsetshire' and artist and engraver names F. W. L. Stockdale and W. Woolnoth. Label on back of frame states 'Published by J & F Tallis, London, c. 1840-1850'.
Art Style: Fine, traditional, historical, architectural.
Frame Details: Double board overlay mounts (muted dusky red top mount, and textured muted brown inner mount). Simple wooden frame, mid brown with beautiful grain, and light sheen finish. Glass to front. Board back on frame with tabbed and taped edges. Metal eyes and rings, with cord for hanging. Some of the rear fittings are newer.
External size, including frame, approx 11 x 8 1/8 inches, 28cm x 20.8cm.
Size of visible print only including the white borders/title (the inner mount aperture size) approx 5 6/10 x 4 1/10 inches, 14.2cm x 10.3cm.
Orientation: Horizontal.
Condition: Print has a few small blemish spots in the sky, otherwise the print is excellent. A few small marks on the glass and the wooden frame edges. A few tiny dust particles under the glass. Rest of frame very good.
