Antique Lake District Print, 'Near Skelworth Bridge' Angler by George H Downing, Small Art, Framed
Print edition and mount circa 1930s estimated. Frame is later, circa 1970s-80s.
Small colour lithographic print (mostly tonal greens), mounted and framed. Ready to hang.
Printed title 'Near Skelworth Bridge' on the mount. Artwork depicting a Lake District, Cumbria, England, landscape with a lake and an angler (back view) sitting on a rock. Lovely delicate green colours with hints of grey-blue. Small white border around print.
Artist: George H. Downing (1848-1940). Printed signature on the print and on the mount too.
Frame Details:
Card overlay mount, cream with small blue lines around aperture, and printed wording. Wooden frame, mid-brown with gold inner edges. Glass to front. Board back on frame with tabbed and taped edges, and metal eyes with string for hanging (these are newer than the rest of the frame).
Size:
External size including frame, approx 10 7/10 x 8 7/10 inches, 27.1cm x 22cm. Size of visible artwork including the little white border (ie: the mount aperture size) 16.4cm x 11.5cm, 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches. Horizontal.
Condition:
Picture very good. A few tiny dot marks on the mount. Minor wear to frame edges. Rest of frame very good to excellent. A lovely tranquil scene!
