Antique small tonal black and white print from an engraving. Mounted and framed (vintage). Ready to hang.
Hilly landscape with castle ruins. People and sheep to foreground. Beautiful picture! Integral off-white border with title to bottom border 'Interior of Pickering Castle Yorkshire' and artist and engraver names H. Gastineau and W. Tombleson. Label on back of frame states 'Published by J & F Tallis, London, c. 1840-1850'.
Art Style: Fine, traditional, historical, architectural.
Frame Details: Double board overlay mounts (beige-grey top mount, and brown inner mount). Simple wooden frame with aged black finish. Glass to front. Board back on frame with newer tabbed and taped edges. Metal tab for hanging.
External size, including frame, approx 9 x 7 8/10 inches, 22.8cm x 19.8cm.
Size of visible print only including the white borders/title (the inner mount aperture size) approx 5 3/4 x 4 2/10 inches, 14.6cm x 10.7cm.
Orientation: Horizontal.
Condition: Print has a few small foxing spots, otherwise the print is excellent. The wooden frame edges have age related wear and scuff marks. Rest of frame very good.
