Subject / Artsit:
A rural scene in England, showing two pillars with grass and foliage around them, and beyond the pillars a fence, open fields, hedges and trees, horizon, and a colourful sky of thin clouds in yellow, orange, violet and blue. Naive-folksy impressionist style. Small title label on back of frame states '1 Ravensbourne Ave, East Boldon, Sunderland, 1928/9-1937'. Artist unknown. No name. Unsigned.
Frame Details:
Board overlay mount, coloured muted subtle green. Moulded wooden frame edges, coloured speckled muted blue-green, with gold lines to inner edge. Glass to front. Board back on frame with tabbed and taped edges and metal eyes with cord for hanging (these are newer than the frame itself).
Size:
External size, including frame, approx 36.2cm x 28.5, 14 1/4 x 11 2/10 inches.
Size of visible painting only (the mount aperture) approx 22.8cm x 16.3cm, 9 x 6 4/10 inches. Horizontal.
Condition: A few small fine crease lines/rucks on the painting, otherwise painting very good. Small blemish on the left side of the board mount. Very slight discolouration to bottom edge of the mount (next to the frame edge). Slight wear to frame edges. Rest of frame excellent.
