Antique Watercolour Painting, River Boats Landscape by P B Brown, Frame Size 16 1/4 x 13 1/4 ins

Age of Item: Painting dated 1924. Frame of that era too.
Item Type: Antique original watercolour painting, framed. Ready to hang. Appears to be painted on light beige cartridge paper or thin card.

Subject / Artist:
Sailing boat on a river near a riverbank, with the sails of another boat behind the bank. Small cottage, buildings, trees, fence and foliage on the riverside. Birds flying in the sky and just above the water. Possibly some tiny boat sails on the distant horizon. A mooring post and rope in the water in the foreground. Muted colours, in a charming naive-folksy style.
Signed 'P. B. Brown 1924'.. Very small and partial impressed stamp (not inked) to top left corner, of unknown origin and illegible.

Frame Details:
Moulded wooden frame, dark brown, with arch pattern to outer edge. Non-reflective glass, with a very fine stipple texture. Board back on frame with tabbed and taped edges. Metal eyes with cord for hanging. The glass and the rear fittings are newer than the frame itself.

Size:
External dimensions, including frame, approx 16 1/4 x 13 1/4 x 3/4 inch, 41.3cm x 33.7cm x 2cm. Horizontal.

Condition:
Painting excellent on the whole but there is a small, narrow darker band along the top edge, right next to the frame edge. Please remember the glass is a non-reflective type which gives a finely stippled appearance. Glass and back of frame excellent. The wooden frame edges/sides have general signs of age, scuffs, marks and crackle lines, all commensurate with a frame of this age.
