A Farmyard in Summer by John Frederick Herring the Younger (fl. 1860-1875, d. 1907), as labelled on back of frame. Outdoor scenery artwork with horses of different colours standing and feeding at a trough, and pigs and chickens - some feeding at a trough. Barn to background and part view of sty at the side. Lovely picture!
Art Style: Rustic, rural, traditional, old fashioned.
Frame Details:
Print mounted on top of light beige-grey board. Chunky moulded wooden frame, light brown with natural knots, markings and grain, and a light sheen varnish finish. Glass to front. Hardboard back on frame with tabbed and taped edges, strut for standing and metal tab for hanging. Some of the rear fittings are newer.
Size:
External size, including frame, approx 14 1/2 x 11 inches, 36.8cm x 28cm.
Size of print only, approx 9 1/4 x 6 inches, 23.5cm x 15.3cm. Horizontal.
Condition:
Print excellent. Frame excellent on the whole with minimal wear. Some roughness on the wood knots where the varnish has gathered on the knots.
