Vintage Istanbul Miniature Watercolour Painting, Santa Sophia Church by Arvind Limaye, Framed
Circa 1970s-80s estimated, original miniature watercolour painting, mounted and framed. Ready to hang.
Card label on back of frame indicates it is Church of Santa Sophia, Istanbul. Artwork of part view of the church, with trees and bushes in front, and a couple walking in the foreground. Mid-century impressionist style and nice gentle colours. Painted on slightly textured surface, probably cartridge paper.
Artist: Arvind Limaye, signed on the painting. Greetings card-label attached to back of frame, with artist's name and address (printed) and a hand-written message (possibly written by the artist?).
Frame Details:
Textured beige board overlay mount with hand-drawn gold line around aperture. Wooden frame, walnut brown colour with grey grain and lines, and grained gold inner edge. Glass to front. Hardboard back on frame, with label as described above, and tabbed and taped edges. Metal eyes with cord for hanging.
Size:
External dimensions, including frame, approx 10 1/4 x 8 1/4 inches, 26cm x 21cm. Size of visible painting only (the mount aperture) approx 5 3/10 x 3 3/10 inches, 13.5cm x 8.5cm. Horizontal.
Condition Notes:
Tiny amount of yellowing around edge of painting. Tiny dot mark to top left corner of painting. Rest of painting excellent. Mount excellent. A few minute scuff marks on glass. Frame edges/sides have a small small scuffs/marks. A few marks on the rear card and board. Excellent vintage condition overall.
