Vintage Oil Painting, Two Boys Fishing in Stream, Signed M Down, Framed Size 19 1/4 x 15 3/8 ins

Subject / Artist: A summer's day with two young boys standing at a water's edge (stream or pond) with a small fishing net and a bucket. Lush, tall green grasses behind them, trees to sides and background. Sky with fluffy clouds. Signed 'M Down'. Nice colours. Brushstrokes mostly smooth with minimal texture to them. Appears to be varnished. Slight yellow hue overall, moreso in the sky.
Art Style: Impressionist, observational portraiture, slight dream-like/atmospheric quality.

Frame Details: Moulded wooden frame, old gold colour finish, with scrolls to corners and mid-sides and fine beading to inner edges. Light beige linen surface inset with gold plastic bevelled inner edges. No glass. Tabbed and taped rear inner edges. Some old product labels on the back. Metal rings, with new cord, for hanging.

External size, including frame, approx 19 1/4 x 15 3/8 inches, 49cm x 39cm.
Size of visible painting only (the front of frame aperture) approx 15 1/2 x 11 1/2 inches, 39.2cm x 29.2cm. Horizontal.

Condition: Painting very good to excellent on the whole. Slight yellow hue overall (probably from the aged oil paints or varnish), moreso in the sky where it is slightly mottled too. A few very fine line marks in the varnish. Small marks and wear to frame edges. Some marks on back of frame. Rest of frame very good. See pictures.
