Subject / Artist: 'The Gateway of Bishopthorpe Palace, Bishopthorpe, North Yorkshire, Residence of The Archbishop of York', as labelled on back of frame. Painting signed R M Ingram 1963. Exterior view of the gateway and walls with arches. Narrow road with grass verges. Trees and sky. Muted colours. Semi-naive style.
The back of the frame also has a cut-away area on the backboard which can be opened to reveal some hand-written inscriptions from the 1970s. See pictures.
Frame Details:
Dappled off-white board overlay mount with hand-drawn gold line around the aperture. Narrow wooden frame edges, brown with gold colour inner edge. Glass to front. Board back on frame with tabbed and taped edges. Metal tab hanger.
The back of the frame also has a cut-away area on the backboard which can be opened to reveal some hand-written inscriptions from the 1970s. See pictures. The rear fittings are newer than the frame itself.

External size, including frame, approx 12 6/10 x 10 7/10 inches, 32cm x 27cm. Horizontal.
Size of visible painting only (the mount aperture) approx 7 9/10 x 6 1/2 inches, 20.2cm x 16.5cm. Horizontal.
Condition: Painting very good. Slight wear to frame edges. Rest of frame excellent.
