Subject / Artist: 'Olivia (Twelth Night) by Charles Robert Leslie R. A. (1794-1859), Engraving by Thomas Vernon (1824-1872), Published by Virtue & Co, London', as labelled on back of frame. A character portrait of Shakespeare's Olivia, sitting, wearing a black (mostly) and white costume and lifting a black veil. Exquisite, fine detail. Viewing with a magnifier is very rewarding as the detail is absolutely beautiful!
Art Style: Fine, literary history, dramatic, mysterious, melancholy, portraiture.
Frame Details: Black board overlay mount. Moulded wooden frame edges, very dark brown with a hint of red. Glass to front. Board back on frame with tabbed and taped edges. Metal tab for hanging. The rear fittings are newer.
External size, including frame, approx 13 1/2 x 11 4/10 inches, 34.2cm x 29cm.
Size of visible print only (the mount aperture) approx 8 9/10 x 7 1/2 inches, 22.6cm x 19cm. Upright.
Condition: Print very good to excellent on the whole but with multiple small, light blemish marks to top edge/upper background. Frame excellent.
