'Dorelia at Chamuse (The Red Skirt) c. 1913, by Augustus John (b. 1878), Portrait of the Artist's Wife, Print Published 1967', as labelled on back of frame. Printed signature 'John' on the picture. Full length portrait in an outdoor setting. She is looking to the side/rear and has one arm raised. She is wearing a generous full length red skirt and a baggy muted blue-green top. The lady has brown bobbed hair. John was a Welsh artist, 1878-1961, of the 'Camden Town Group' and the 'New English Art Club' schools.
Art Style: Post-Impressionist, bohemian, rustic.
Frame Details:
Slate green board overlay mount. Moulded wooden frame, light brown with nice grain and a slight sheen finish. Glass to front. Hardboard back on frame with tabbed and taped edges. Plastic fixing for hanging.
